Your August Newsletter Pep Talk

If you do one thing for your business this month, let it be a newsletter.

July has been a whirlwind. It flew by. Recently, I decided to niche down to Just Newsletters in my freelance offerings. I’ve been so excited about the idea but… it’s summer in the Okanagan. If you know, you know.

I have been driving back and forth between Vancouver and Kelowna on my days off. Or hanging with my daughter and enjoying the outdoors because the weather has been amazing. No one wants to be inside on a laptop in July!

Sunset Beach, Vancouver, B.C.

It’s all been great fun, but I haven’t had the time to kick off this new business the way I wanted to. My drives from Van have been in total silence with me practicing what I’d say on the Youtube video I plan to record. I have been dictating voice notes with content ideas I want to write about on my Medium account. Between day job meetings, I am remembering that I need to spend some time working on this business when I get home and then cook dinner and take the dog for a walk instead.

Nothing is actually getting done.

Then, last night, I had a little pep talk with myself.

Linds — it’s almost August. You promised yourself you’d send out just ONE monthly newsletter. So, just go write it. Forget about the rest and just sent one bloody newsletter. The people who subscribed are expecting it. (oh hey, that’s you.)

And, that’s exactly what I did and I want you to do it too.

Psst… subscriber here to get my next newsletter about newsletters.

If you find yourself overwhelmed with life and summer and kids at home, then cut the extra crap and write just one newsletter.

Just one newsletter will keep you top of mind and remind your subscribers that you’re still here. You may not be ready for a full-on influx of clients and work, but when you are, a month or two from now, your list will be engaged because of your quick “hey, how are ya” this month. When you ask for their business in September, they will be ready.

So, go on — write your newsletter. Here are some quick and easy prompts to get your juices flowing.
